Chris has been a registered physiotherapist since 2000. He graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Kinesiology (1998) and a Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy) (2000). He has post-graduate training for lower back pain (Part A McKenzie) and for acupuncture (Level 1 AFCI).
Chris has practiced in a clinical setting for most of his 10 years dealing with a large variety of orthopedic injuries ranging from acute injuries to post-surgical rehabilitation to chronic/recurrent injuries. Chris utilizes hands-on treatment together with education and exercise prescription as part of the rehabilitation process. He believes strongly in active therapy in which patients/clients participate in setting goals and take responsibility for their part in the treatment process (i.e. completing prescribed exercises).
Chris has always been very active playing a variety of sports including baseball, volleyball, basketball and, more recently mountain biking. He also spent many years working out in a conventional gym setting before discovering a passion for CrossFit. He was part of the CrossFit Altitude team that went to California for the World CrossFit games in 2011. As a competitive CrossFitter he knows exactly what it takes to work through an injury and can help you recover, prevent and sustain your fitness regardless of what your issue is. Please see the Physiotherapy section for details on how to book an appointment with Chris.
Nik's experience in fitness originally came from martial arts and miltary training. Seeing others and being pushed to the absolute limit in a competitive and highly dangerous environment, he quickly recognized the flaws of conventional "meat-head" style of training. He wanted more for his clients, students and himself so he began to do some research.
After many courses and seminars he was introduced to the CrossFit training method. It turned out to be everything he was looking for and then some. He very quickly started making fitness gains, the likes of which he never thought possible. The broad and overall rounded fitness CrossFit produces as well as it's short, intense duration made CrossFit the most valuable training system he had ever seen. This is why he now trainss and competes in CrossFit exclusively.
He recommends it anyone who wants to dramatically improve their quality of life, make new friends, and get to the best shape of their lives!
